Organ Inlet. Scratch that. Downtown.

It has been an eventful couple of days. Some for the good and some for the traumatic.

I'll start off with yesterday.
I wanted to take a nice sunny day trip to Organ Inlet. An hour and a half drive on a skinny road surrounded by rolling beach sand hills, cat tails and lighthouses. I took the camera and with the idea that I'd make the trip the kick off of this new blog.
There was a spot of road construction which temporarily stopped traffic. I thought it would be a great opportunity to get out of the car and take some photos off the beaten path.

After getting back into my car and started to continue on my way, I start to feel a slight tingle on my legs. I look down to my horror of a whole family (10 or 11) deer ticks crawling up my legs. I had stepped into a nest chock full of hungry ticks.

It was all I could do not a crash my car into a tree as I have my own private hissy-fit in my car.

I pull over to burst out of my car tearing my clothing off in a frenzy as onlookers honk and hoot. I turned around and zoomed home while the ones I scrapped off in my car crawled around at my feet. After lots of showers and some good carpet pesticide in my car all is well. But I'll never see the wilderness the same way again.

Now for the good news.

This morning I woke to a lovely e-mail that I got an internship at a little firm called Anoroc. So tonight I have to start packing my bags to move out of my parents place and move back to Raleigh! Very, very excited about this.

To celebrate I took a walk around downtown Manteo where there are less bugs and more pavement. Here are some photos from the walk.
